Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how ST1 Sports ("ST1 Sports," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, and shares information through Oval, our team management app for track, cross country, and run club coaches, athletes, and parents. It applies to the Oval mobile apps and web app (together, "Oval") and should be read together with Oval's Terms of Service.

Account and profile information. When a coach, athlete, parent, or administrator creates an Oval account, we collect name, email address, phone number, role, school or club affiliation, and a profile photo if one is uploaded.

Athlete and team data. Coaches and administrators may enter or import roster information, event assignments, personal records, meet results, attendance, and season schedules. Where a coach connects Oval to Athletic.net, MileSplit, or a similar public results database, we import the roster and performance data the coach selects.

Training and workout data. Planned workouts (distances, intervals, paces, rest periods), logged actuals, and — where an athlete connects a Strava account — imported activity data such as pace, distance, elapsed time, and, if the athlete's Strava settings share it, GPS route data.

Communications. Messages sent within Oval between coaches, athletes, parents, and administrators, and any files or attachments included in them.

Payment information, if Oval offers a paid subscription. Billing name, plan selected, and payment details, collected and processed by Apple's In-App Purchase system, Google Play Billing, or a payment processor — Oval does not store full card numbers itself.

Device and technical data. Device type and operating system, app version, IP address, crash and performance logs, and push-notification tokens.

Location data, only if and when a feature such as GPS-based run tracking or meet check-in requests it and the user grants the permission on their device.

We use the information above to:

• Operate core features: rosters, schedules, workouts, attendance, messaging, and meet-day tools;

• Let coaches, athletes, and parents communicate and stay informed about team activity;

• Import roster and performance data a coach chooses to bring in from Athletic.net, MileSplit, or Strava;

• Personalize training data, such as scaling paces to an athlete's personal records;

• Send transactional notifications — new messages, schedule changes, and team invitations;

• Send marketing and promotional communications, but only to users who have opted in (see "Marketing & Promotional Communications");

• Maintain safety and oversight of coach–athlete communication involving minors (see "Children's Privacy & Parental Consent");

• Monitor, secure, and improve the app, including diagnosing crashes and abuse;

• Comply with legal obligations, school or district policy requirements, and enforce our Terms of Service.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not use athlete performance or health-adjacent data to make automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects.

Oval is built for track, cross country, and run club teams, and many athletes who use it are under 18 — some are under 13. This section explains how we handle that.

Consent to join. An athlete's Oval account is created through their coach, school, or club, or by a parent/guardian. Where an athlete is under 13, we require a parent, guardian, or the school/club (acting on the parent's behalf for the school-authorized team activity) to consent before we collect personal information from that athlete.

Parent visibility. For minor athletes, a linked parent/guardian account has visibility into direct messages between that athlete and their coach within Oval. This reflects SafeSport guidance and common school/district athletics policy, and it is not optional on a per-conversation basis.

What we don't do with children's data. We do not use a known minor athlete's personal information for third-party advertising, do not sell it, and do not send marketing or promotional communications directly to a minor athlete's account without separate parental opt-in.

Parent rights. A parent or guardian may review, correct, or request deletion of their child's information at any time by contacting us (see "Contact Us") or their coach or school administrator. We collect no more information from a child than is reasonably necessary to take part in team activities.

If you believe a child has provided information without appropriate consent, contact us at team@runoval.com and we will investigate and take appropriate steps, including deletion.

We don't sell your personal information, and we don't share it with third parties for their own advertising. We share information only as follows:

• Within a team or organization. Coaches and administrators see the roster, workout, and performance data needed to run their team. Teammates may see limited roster information (name, event group) as part of normal team functionality. Parents linked to a minor athlete see that athlete's schedule, messages with their coach, and performance data.

• Service providers, who process data on our behalf under confidentiality and data-protection terms: email delivery (SendGrid), analytics providers, crash-reporting and diagnostics tools, and our cloud hosting provider, push notification delivery (Apple Push Notification service, Firebase Cloud Messaging), and, if applicable, a payment processor.

• Third-party integrations you connect, such as Strava — only the data covered by the permissions you grant, and only for as long as it stays connected.

• Publicly available results data a coach imports from Athletic.net, MileSplit, or a similar source.

• Legal and safety purposes: to comply with law, respond to legal process, or protect the safety of any athlete, coach, or other user, including reporting to a school, district, or governing body where required.

• Business transfers, such as a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets — any successor would be bound by this Policy's commitments regarding minors' data.
